It’s been some time since my last blog post and this has been partly because of a very annoying incident of Saturday night. More about this later.
The Carnival Party was one of the events for the students‘ union jubilee and took place in the university’s bomb shelter „Bommari“ which is often used for sports and events. There was an amazing program including a metal concert, a pole-dancing performance, fireworks and as a highlight a gig by one of Finland’s most popular bands of the 90s: Movetron. I only had my smartphone with me to take photos but you can find the band on YouTube. I heard the songs for the first time but the Finnish guys went crazy 😀
After the party, there were lots of afterparties throughout the university. This way I got to know three of the so-called „secret clubs“. They are not really that secret, but you can only become a member of them if you are invited. I will probably never become a member of one of them but they do host nice afterparties!
The next day did not end so well for me. After public sauna in Rauhaniemi and karaoke we decided to go to Cupola which is the only club in Hervanta. When the club closed after a great party at 3:30 I discovered that I had lost my cloakroom ticket. I waited until everyone else got their jacket only to discover that someone else had found my ticket and had used it to get my backpack and my jacket! This way I lost one of my jackets (thank God I brought more than one!), my backpack, my backup-glasses and my camera! Even though Finland is one of the safest countries in the world, apparently these things still happen…
I reported the theft to the police on Monday, but I don’t think there is much chance of me seeing my things again. I already ordered a new camera on Amazon and I hope it will arrive by the end of next week to take it with me on my first trip to Levi, Lapland! It would be very sad to go there without a camera. Shipping to Finland is so slow, I really miss Amazon Prime 🙁
